Fallingwater (LEGO 21005)
by ReDo.Bricks (@ReDo.Bricks)
Description
LEGO Architecture set 21005, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, built in ReDo from LEGO System parts by their part numbers: 800 pieces, each one the real part in its real colour, studs clicked into the pieces above as the set is built.
## Where it comes from
Each piece is placed where the LDraw community's model of the set puts it: *21005 - Falling Water* by Orion Pobursky [OrionP], from LDraw's Official Model Repository, redistributable under CCAL 2.0 (CC BY 2.0). The parts are ReDo's own parametric LEGO parts, not LEGO's CAD.
## What is different from the box
- The model stands the house's upper floors one plate low, their bottom plates inside the ten tan tiles of the floor below. Here they are raised a plate and rest on those tiles. LEGO's booklet agrees: at step 36 the upper house slides in sideways over smooth tiles.
- Raised, three tan tiles of the upper floors land in the stone pillars beside them (a 1 × 1 and two 2 × 2), so those three are left out.
- The model paints the 28 round 1 × 1 plates in the old Brown and Light Gray LEGO stopped making in 2004; the 2009 set's are Reddish Brown and Light Bluish Gray, and so are they here. Two plates the model paints Light Gray (a 1 × 2 and a 1 × 3) are the set's Tan.
- The set has eight plates the model does not draw: a 2 × 2 corner plate, two 1 × 2 and two 1 × 4 in Tan, a clear 1 × 2, and a dark grey 1 × 2 and 1 × 3.
- The parts leave out what does not change how they fit: the groove along a tile's bottom edge, the ridges inside a brick's walls, the hollow in a stud's top.
## Try it
Lift the upper house off its tiles to see the floor beneath, then the terrace and the top of the roof. Follow the waterfall down the rocks under the house. Select any piece to see its part number, or change its colour.
