South African Flag (LEGO 1869)
by ReDo.Bricks (@ReDo.Bricks)
Description
LEGO set 1869, the flag of South Africa built upright from bricks, from 1996, built in ReDo from LEGO System parts by their part numbers: 82 pieces, each one the real part in its real colour, studs clicked into the pieces above as the set is built.
## Where it comes from
Each piece is placed where the LDraw community's model of the set puts it: *1869 - South African Flag* by Merlijn Wissink [Legolijntje], from LDraw's Official Model Repository, redistributable under CCAL 2.0 (CC BY 2.0). The parts are ReDo's own parametric LEGO parts, not LEGO's CAD.
## What is different from the box
- The model builds the yellow edge in the second course from the top out of two 1 × 1 bricks side by side; the set has a single yellow 1 × 2 there, and so does this build.
- The parts leave out what does not change how they fit: the ridges inside a brick's walls, the hollow in a stud's top.
## Try it
Take it apart course by course from the top, select any piece to see its part number, or change its colour.
