Brandenburg Gate (LEGO 21011)
by ReDo.Bricks (@ReDo.Bricks)
Description
LEGO Architecture set 21011, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, built in ReDo from LEGO System parts by their part numbers: 360 pieces, each one the real part in its real colour, studs clicked into the pieces above as the set is built.
## Where it comes from
Each piece is placed where the LDraw community's model of the set puts it: *21011 - Brandenburg Gate* by Orion Pobursky [OrionP], from LDraw's Official Model Repository, redistributable under CCAL 2.0 (CC BY 2.0). The parts are ReDo's own parametric LEGO parts, not LEGO's CAD.
## What is different from the box
- The two black 2 × 12 plates joining the halves of the base stand half a stud off the grid in the model; here they are on it.
- Two grey 1 × 4 plates in the attic are left out: in the model the studs of the jumpers under them land on their pins, and moved half a stud either way they run into their neighbours.
- The model draws the four grey taps as the old mould with a hole in its spout (4599a); the set's are the later 4599b, and so are these.
- The set has one more black 1 × 8 tile than the model draws (9 to its 8), so this build has one fewer.
- Rebrickable lists the set's twelve tan fences as the kind with four studs on top (15332) and its grey 1 × 2 plate with a bar as the one on a 5 mm arm (88072); the model draws, and this build has, their alternates: the fence with two studs on top (30055) and the plate on a 6 mm arm (4623).
- The 12 old 1 × 2 × 2 bricks (3245a) are the current mould, 3245c, and the 8 old 1 × 2 jumper plates (3794a) the current jumper, 15573; both have the same outside.
- The parts leave out what does not change how they fit: the groove along a tile's bottom edge, the ridges inside a brick's walls, the hollow in a stud's top.
## Try it
Lift the attic off the columns, quadriga and all, to see how the gate's top is built, then look along the colonnade between the two wings. Select any piece to see its part number, or change its colour.
