Hook Loader (LEGO Technic 42084)

Description

LEGO Technic set 42084, Hook Loader, a little hook-lift truck from 2018 that pulls its container onto its back and tips it off again, built in ReDo from LEGO Technic parts by their part numbers: 176 pieces, each one the real part in its real colour, every pin and axle joined into the holes it goes through as the set is built. The container lifts off the truck as it does in the set.

## Where it comes from

Each piece is placed where the LDraw community's model of the set puts it: *42084 - Hook Loader* by Johann Eisner [technicbasics], from LDraw's Official Model Repository, redistributable under CCAL 2.0 (CC BY 2.0). The parts are ReDo's own parametric LEGO parts, its curved Technic panels modelled after LDraw's drawing, not LEGO's CAD.

## What is different from the box

- Some pieces are built as LEGO's current mould of the part the model draws: the black pins (2780) as 61332, the blue long pins (6558) as 42924, the tan long pins (32556) as 39888, the grey 4-pin hub (48989) as 65489, the grey 1-pin hubs (15100) as 65487 and the dark grey axle connector (32039) as 42135.
- The model draws the tyres as 30391, the older offset tread; here they are 92402, with the band round the middle the set's tyres have.
- The model paints two of the perpendicular connectors Light Bluish Gray; all six in the set are Dark Bluish Gray, as the booklet's parts list shows.
- The model sets the container level on the stud grid, a little into the four 8-tooth gears it rides on; here it is tilted 1.1° about its front round connector, which stays under the beam that holds it down, so it rests on them.
- The model sets the 1 × 6 plate behind the cab, with the four round half tiles on it, 0.4 mm into the Technic brick it stands on; here it is raised onto the brick's studs.
- The model turns one axle pin 22.5° off the cross of the connector arm it is pushed into; here it is turned onto it.
- The container is held by no joint: it rests on the truck, as it does for the hook to lift it off.
- The parts leave out what does not change how they fit: the hollows under a beam, the lettering on the tyres.
