Farnsworth House (LEGO 21009)

Description

LEGO Architecture set 21009, Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House, built in ReDo from LEGO System parts by their part numbers: 542 pieces, each one the real part in its real colour, studs clicked into the pieces above as the set is built.

## Where it comes from

Each piece is placed where the LDraw community's model of the set puts it: *21009 - Farnsworth House* by Orion Pobursky [OrionP], from LDraw's Official Model Repository, redistributable under CCAL 2.0 (CC BY 2.0). The parts are ReDo's own parametric LEGO parts, not LEGO's CAD.

## What is different from the box

- The model sinks a white 1 × 1 tile into the 6 × 8 plate beside it, with no free place for it to go, so it is left out. With one white 1 × 1 tile the model never draws, this build has two fewer than the set's 238.
- The model draws the twelve clear 1 × 4 × 3 panels as the old mould without side supports (4215b); the set's are 60581, with them, and so are these.
- The two tables' clear 1 × 1 legs are left out: in the model each leg's stud lands under the middle of its 1 × 2 table top, where the tile's rib stands, and the chairs either side leave the top no room to move. The table tops stand where the model has them, resting rather than clicked on.
- The parts leave out what does not change how they fit: the groove along a tile's bottom edge, the ridges inside a brick's walls, the hollow in a stud's top.

## Try it

Take it apart as the set comes apart, from the white roof down through the glass walls to the terrace and the steps. Select any piece to see its part number, or change its colour.
