LEGO System Showcase

Description

A tour of the LEGO System parts in the Inventory, in two kinds. The bricks, plates and tiles stand on a 16 × 16 baseplate, and each of them, the baseplate too, is a parametric part you can resize. Beside the baseplate are LEGO's own CAD models, fixed meshes at the one size LEGO makes them: nine Technic gears in front of it, which you change by picking another tooth count or cut rather than by resizing, and three wheels on their tyres behind it. The cross axle the gears ride on is parametric again, its length picked from the lengths LEGO makes.

## What is on it

- **On the baseplate**, stacked as LEGO stacks, studs into tubes: a 2 × 2 brick capped with a tile; a wall of three 2 × 4 bricks, the upper one bridging the two below, capped with a tile; three 2 × 2 plates capped with a tile; a round brick under a round plate and a round tile; and two round tiles, 2 × 2 and 1 × 1, on their own.
- **In front of the baseplate, a row of Technic gears on one cross axle**: 8, 16, 24 and 40-tooth spur gears, a 16-tooth clutch gear, 12 and 20-tooth double bevels, a 14-tooth bevel and a 24-tooth crown, smallest to largest along a 16-module axle as long as the baseplate is wide. Each slides along it, and all but the clutch gear turn with it: the clutch gear's round hole lets it spin free.
- **Behind the baseplate, three wheels on their tyres**: the 43.2 × 26 rim with its 63 × 30 tyre, the 56 × 26 wheel, and the motorcycle wheel with its 81.6 mm tyre.

## Try it

Select a brick, plate or tile and change its size: the studs and tubes follow. On a gear, pick another tooth count or cut to swap in LEGO's model of that gear. Then build something of your own on the baseplate.
