ReDo Bevel Gear Ratios

Description

The three right-angle drives a pair of ReDo bevel gears gives, 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3, each a kit from Inventory › ReDo › Kits, screwed side by side to one Plate.

## What each kit is

- **The motor:** an N20-size micro gearmotor slides into the Micro Gearmotor Case, and the lid closes it on two countersunk M3 screws.
- **The bracket:** a Bevel Drive Bracket, an L whose 2.5 mm leg screws flat to the case's side with four countersunk M3 × 5 screws. Its 20 mm foot lifts the case 10 mm and screws down to the Plate with three M3 × 6 screws.
- **The gears:** an 8-tooth Spur Gear with Bevel ticked sits on the motor's shaft, its back against the case's front. Its mate sits on a 3 mm D shaft that runs through the bracket's leg, the mate's back against the leg. The two shafts cross square, 20 mm above the Plate. Each gear is set to mesh with the other's tooth count and grips its shaft with an M3 × 4 grub screw.
- **1:1:** two 8-tooth gears. The shaft turns with the motor, and the bracket reaches 10 mm in front of the case.
- **1:2:** an 8 and a 16. The shaft turns at half the motor's speed with twice its torque, and the bracket reaches 15 mm out.
- **1:3:** an 8 and a 24. The shaft turns at a third of the speed with three times the torque, and the bracket reaches 20 mm out, so the 24 clears the Plate by 4.8 mm.

## Try it

In Assembly, couple a kit's two gears, then run its motor in Simulation: the D shaft turns at that kit's ratio. Each kit is a group, with its gearmotor and case a group inside it, so the motor stays in its case while its shaft turns.

Every screw, gear, shaft and plate in it is joined the way the editor joins them, so its parts list is the shopping list.
