Documentation turns your project into printable pages: a cover with a picture of the whole build, then every part it needs, pictured and counted. Choose Documentation in the mode box in the top bar.
It changes nothing in the project. Pick another mode to go back.
What the pages show
- The cover: the project's name, its owner, the date and a picture of the whole build.
- The parts list: every part, grouped by its Inventory category, such as Hardware or Electronics, with cables last under Wires. - Each row has a picture of the part as it is in the project, a number, its name, its settings such as its length, its colour, and how many there are, such as × 12. - Identical parts share one row. - Cables are listed by kind and length.
- Page N of M at the foot of every page.
The pages are a list of what to get, not step-by-step assembly steps.
Document
The Document panel sets up the whole document:
- Current Page jumps to a page.
- Zoom from 50 to 400 %; 100 % fits one whole page.
- Paper size: A4 landscape or A4 portrait.
- Background colour and Text colour for every page.
- Instruction book adds the build's steps after the parts list, once the project has a plan. Colors chooses how its pictures paint the parts: Brighter new parts, Only color new parts, All parts in color, or Hide colors (plain line drawings). Something built in hand in four steps or fewer, such as a wheel, is drawn small in a cream box at the left of the step that puts it on, in two numbered pictures; pick that step and choose Build in hand → As views of its own to give it steps of its own instead. A step seen from another side than the one before carries the turn sign.
- Edit in Dark Mode shows the pages dark while you work; the PDF keeps the colours above. It is on to start with, and the app remembers your choice.
Page
The Page panel shows the page you are on, outlined in orange; click a page to pick it.
- On a parts-list page, Compact view fits more rows on each page.
- On an instruction book page, Grid sets how many steps it holds, from 1 × 1 to 4 × 3 or 3 × 4.
View
Point at a step on an instruction book page and it lights up; click it to pick it. The View panel shows what that step brings in, and a Title, Note and Warning you can write; whatever you write is printed under its picture. The left and right arrow keys pick the step before or after, turning the page when needed. Press Escape to let it go.
Download
- Download PDF saves the pages as one PDF to print or share.
- Download Resources saves every picture full size, and the page's text, as a zip.
- One picture: right-click it, or click the ⋯ at its corner, and choose Save image as…, or Copy image to paste it somewhere else.
- One step of the instruction book: right-click it and choose Save image as… or Copy image for the whole step (its number, parts and pictures), or Save picture only as… or Copy picture only.
Everything you choose here (page size, compact view, colours, paper, each page's grid, and how builds in hand are shown) is saved with the project.
