A smooth-topped LEGO plate with open studs on the joins between its cells rather than on the cells, which offsets whatever sits on it by half a stud: one stud on a 1 x 2 or 2 x 2, two on a 1 x 3, and one in the middle of each 2 x 2 of a two-wide plate, so two on a 2 x 4. Round, it is a 2 x 2 disc with its stud bored through into the tube beneath, or a 1 x 2 half circle; a wedge is LEGO's 27928, a 2 x 2 cut to a point at the front with a solid stud in its middle and a 1 x 1/2 tab raised a plate at its back.
