The through-hole chip package, DIP-4 to DIP-64: two rows of leads on the 2.54 mm grid, 0.3 to 1.0 in apart, each a narrow tip that enters the board under a wide shoulder bent out of the body's side. Pick the package and its row spacing. Every one straddles a breadboard's centre channel, and the body is paintable because the outline is all a generic DIP is; the chip inside it is yours to name.
