Connect ReDo to Claude.ai
Add ReDo to Claude.ai once. Then ask Claude for a project: it finds the parts in ReDo, saves the project, and gives you a link that opens it. No ReDo account is needed.
Add the connector
- Open Claude.ai and go to Customize, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it ReDo and paste this address:
https://redo.pro/api/mcp
- Claude detects the server. Leave Authentication as Claude sets it (ReDo signs you in only when a request needs your account), add no headers, and choose Add.
- Optional: in the connector's Tool permissions, set Read-only tools to Always allow. Claude then asks before saving a project and not before searching.
- Start a new chat and turn ReDo on from the tools menu.
A Free plan holds one custom connector.
Your first request
Ask for something small:
Show me a breadboard with an ATmega328 on it.
The first time Claude uses a ReDo tool it asks your permission. Then it looks the two parts up in ReDo, puts them in a project and answers with a link like redo.pro/projects/<key>. The link opens the project's page: its parts list with each part's licence, downloads, and Open in Playground.
More things to try:
- "Find a spur gear in ReDo and tell me which sizes it comes in."
- "Put two 20-tooth gears next to each other in ReDo and give me the link."
What Claude can do today
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search ReDo's parts | Finds parts by name, maker or what they are, with their licence, size and a few attributes. Read only |
| Describe a part | Reads one part, or several side by side: its options and ranges, licence and related parts, its size and where each pin or hole sits, so Claude can place one part on another's holes. A breadboard also says which holes are joined in a strip. Read only |
| Save a project (Build a project once switched on) | Saves a scene Claude wrote, or copies a shipped or public project, and answers its link and the parts to buy. Where it is switched on, Claude builds step by step with the same moves as ReDo's own assistant (adding, moving, snapping parts together, wiring) and gets a picture back. Claude asks before each save |
| Show a project | Pictures of a project from the front, side or top, or cut open, and its files for printing and CAD (STEP, STL, 3MF) as download links. Read only |
| Design a part | Builds a part Claude writes in OpenSCAD into a project, with its size and a picture |
| Connector status | Says who is calling, how many builds are left today and which build of ReDo answers. Read only |
Good to know
- Pictures, files, building step by step and designing parts are switched on by the ReDo team. Once they are, Claude also shows each project as a small card in the chat, with its picture and an Open in ReDo button. If Claude says it has no such tool, it is not on yet: open the link to see the project, and wire parts in the Playground.
- Files leave out any part whose maker does not allow its files to be passed on, and Claude says which.
- A project Claude saves is not listed anywhere, and is deleted after 30 days. To keep it, open it in the Playground and save a copy to your account.
- Claude asks you to sign in the first time it needs your account, for example to list your projects, and ReDo asks you to allow it. From then on what Claude builds is saved private in your account. Account menu → AI Agents says what it may do, and removes it.
- What ReDo keeps is in the privacy notice.
